We just bought the Volcano EPX for my son. We ordered 2 HX-580030C-BV2 LIPO batteries so we can get more run time. Is there any concern with heat if we run through 3 fully charged batteries in one session?
It is always good to let the packs and electronics cool down in between runs. If you do not then yes there could be an overheating issue.
I want a stronger motor and the best battery. I have the Volcano EPX, what should i buy? And what is the thing that plugs into the servo with the stick on it?
For this truck we would recommend the Castle Creations 1/10 SV3 Sidewinder SC + 3800kV with 5mm Shaft waterproof part number CSE010-0123-01.
I just got one yesterday. Can I get a 7.4v 5000 battery for this? Will the new battery shorten the life span of the motor or damage the truck?
With the higher mAh there will be longer run times so it would be good to keep an eye on the temperatures of your electronic. You should not have any issues running a 7.4V 5000 mAh pack.
Does the blackout or the volcano have more customizable parts
They are pretty close to the same as far as upgrades go. You would be limited to what Redcat offers for them and that's about it (specific chassis parts/upgrades).
Would you recommend the Volcano EXP or the Blackout XTE?
The Blackout is a newer chassis and if I had to choose one of the two I would go with the Blackout.
